Changing Stations

Does your life ever feel like a radio station? Like it's muffled and staticky and you can only get out bits and pieces that seem to make sense? You feel like you are trying so hard to make out what should be clear, but all you get is fuzziness and uncertainty.

Sometimes I feel like I get stuck on the wrong station and that's when it goes faint and begins to get unclear. I begin to listen to all of the lies of the world and lose my focus off God and what is really true. My focus gets fuzzy and I lose sight of what really matters.

Recently my staticky radio station has been making me think that the world defines who I am. What others think and say about me is true. I am a failure. I am a mistake. I'm not good enough. Not talented enough. I have no potential. I am not efficient. When we get small bits and pieces of negativity it all adds up and it begins convincing ourselves that all those negative thoughts are true and that they define us. Little things people have said to you, about you, what you think others are saying about you, what you think about yourself....whatever it may be, all the lies and negative thoughts begin to eat away at your self-worth and bring you down.

This is when we have to look at all the static coming in our station- is it clouding our focus and is interfering over what God has told us? If so, we then have to re-tune our station and remember what God has said: God values you. You are talented like no other. You are created on purpose just the way you are. You have potential. You are loved beyond what you can ever imagine.

Don't let the world get control of your joy. Remember that God's view of you is all that matters. If others look down on you or view you as unqualified, know that God sees your effort and He knows what is in your heart. He knows your willingness, work and effort and nothing goes unmissed. When others don't seem like they value you or respect you, know that God sees and He will make it right. You are valued in His sight.

If your life feels foggy, filled with static and muffled, look at your station. What you are "tuning" your radio station to shows what you will get out of it. Tune it on God, remain focused on what is true and don't worry about all the lies the world tries to tell you. Listen to God and focus on what He says is true, when you do that your perspective will change and so will your joy.

Romans 8:5
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
