In a Dark Valley

Do you ever feel like your life is all mixed up? Changes are occurring and you don't know what to make of them? You don't know which direction is up.

Sometimes it's hard to see why God has you going through a struggle or a situation. It's difficult to have an optimistic outlook when all you see is the pain and stress it causes. It is through these dark valleys that we find God's presence with us. It may seem like everything is so unclear and we can't see beyond the next step, but God's leading us through till we reach the top.


Right now in my own life it seems like I'm in a dark valley and I'm trying to find my way. I've been trying to seek God and sometimes I feel like He's not listening. I feel like I'm trying to find my way on my own. I know that He is with me though, and I know it is increasing my faith in Him when I can't see what lies ahead or I feel alone. Sometimes I want to take control of my problems and I pray for things I want instead of seeking God's will. Sometimes I just have to let go of things and give God the control since I can only do so much and only God has the power to work things out.

Maybe you feel like you are in a dark valley and you can't find your way. Maybe things have been overbearing and you just don't know how much longer you can deal with the pain? The struggles we face in this life aren't easy. They feel so overbearing sometimes. But we can rest assured knowing God is always with us even when we feel like nobody understands. He is the one that will lead us up out into the sunshine and give us relief from all the worries we bear.

Take a moment today to look at your life and ask God to do His will with the situations you are in. Ask Him for guidance and give you wisdom in your circumstances. Pray that you would take advantage of the opportunities you are given to influence others. Never underestimate God's will, because He always has something greater in mind for you than you can even imagine.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.

  1. Psalms 18:28 is my current favorite verse. To think that God will not only lead you through these times, but give you joy during these times is such a comforting thought. What I hold onto most during tough times is knowing that God does not change. Because I know that he is consistent, faithful, steadfast, and never changing, I have the promise of his presence with me every single day. And though I may lose many things through change, I will never lose him. He will be the one thing that I will always, forever have. To a lot of people that doesn't sound like enough, but when I spend time with him and see how he provides, I know it is. There really isn't anything worth holding onto right now except for him. (I too struggle with not controlling everything).

    Sorry for that... this post just hit home with me today.

  2. This is so happening to me right now...I want to take control of my problems and even though I pray about it, I do it with the wrong intentions. Sometimes I feel like I want to solve it myself, and I so easily forget that the only way that I live and thrive is because of Christ, and there is nothing that I can do on my own.
    And thank you for this line, "He always has something greater in mind for you than you can even imagine."
    God's ways are always better than our ways, and I become so disappointed when things don't go my way, since I love to control situations myself. I found some verses in Psalms and one in 2 Samuel about how God's ways are the best ways.
