Invisible

Have you ever felt invisible? Like everyone else just passed you by, not noticing how your day was going or what you were going through? have you ever felt like the odd one out? Like everyone else has a friend in the world and you don't? Maybe everyone you know is in a relationship but you are still waiting?

It's hard when we feel like we aren't good enough. Like we don't qualify like others. I have always had a hard time feeling secure in who I am, but I continually ask for God's help to help me accept who I am and to think of myself the way God sees me. Sometimes rejection just batters us so often that we get ideas engrained in our head that we think are true, but in reality they are lies. Sometimes we think thoughts and take things to a whole new level when they weren't even meant to be hurtful.

I believe we all have felt insecure or under-qualified at least once in our lives. But, don't let those thoughts get a hold of you. You are a child of God. You were created with a significant purpose. You are original and unique. Sometimes we see everyone else's fame and popularity and we become disappointed in our insignificant lives. We feel inadequate and overlooked. I often like to recall to this quote when I'm feeling inferior to others: "Don't compare your behind the scenes life with everyone else's highlight reel." This reminds me that we often only see other people's highlights in their life, the things they choose to show and we can't see everything else they are hiding beneath their masks. Everything may look perfect on the outside, but deep within them they are hurting. They are insecure. They are lonely too.

Often we get caught up in this world and all the pleasures it brings us. Don't let your focus drift off your main purpose here. You are meant to have more meaning to your life than having the most friends, being the prettiest, going to all the parties, being the smartest, having all the answers. There is more to life than just faking through it. Be real. Be open and just be who God created you to be. You may feel invisible, overlooked and unqualified right now, but God uses those who are willing and humble. He is using your life to impact others even though you can't see it right now. Look through God's eyes today and see yourself in a different perspective- you ARE amazing and perfect just the way He made you!

Psalm 139:14
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Romans 12:12
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I Samuel 16:7
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

  6. This is another wonderful post, Britt! It's hard for us as humans to look past human desires, but God has so much more in store for us than that. We waste so much time on being what others want to see instead of being who God has made us to be. And I really love that quote that you shared about comparing our lives to others' lives. Very wise advice!
