Not Our Home

Have you ever felt like others just don't accept you? Do you wonder if you will ever fit in anywhere? Do you ever feel like you are always the one out of the loop and nobody seems to even notice you?

Believe me, if you feel this way you aren't the only one. I always feel like no matter where I go that I'm the one that gets overlooked, neglected and doesn't fit in like everyone else. Everyone else has their friends and people to talk to, while I just sit there alone.

I've often wondered why I never feel like I fit in anywhere. Well, the other day I heard this song (I believe it was this song) but it mentioned not fitting in anywhere and it said that we aren't made for this world. Our lives are meant for a different home. If you feel like you fit in down here and are "at home" maybe re-evaluate your life and see what your focus is on. Now, I'm not saying that being popular or having a lot of friends is wrong, I'm just saying that if you are enjoying this world too much and not remembering your true purpose, it may be time to delve deeper into your heart and find why you are living.

Each day I feel like I have to try to reset my thinking to eternal and not temporal. I have to remind myself that the things I enjoy, the things I focus on and make a big deal of will not even matter when I reach heaven. I have to constantly keep reminding myself to try to do things that will last for eternity. The life we are living down here is preparing a place for us in Heaven. I don't want to get to heaven and look back and wished I had done more. I want to do all I can to serve God and glorify Him.

Instead of writing out Bible verses I thought I'd attach some photo verses in the post since they seem like they are always easier for me to relate to than just plain text. : ) (maybe because I'm a graphics nerd...haha).

"But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ," —Philippians 3:20
Psalm 91:14-16

 Personal relationship

 Jesus

I hope you enjoyed some of the quotes/Bible Verses. The last one really influences me. It always reminds me to be acting as Jesus because others may not see Him through anyone else. We all think that others will find out about Jesus through someone else, but maybe we are their only hope.

We can even apply that to daily life- be kind to someone else because you might be the only person showing God's love to them that day. Maybe they need some encouragement from God and you could be the one to encourage them that day and make them feel loved. You never know the effect your words and actions have on others. Just a smile can show someone God's love- I know it seems small, but a smile has made my day before!

So, go out and do something amazing for Jesus today! Don't wait to start living for God. Do it before it is too late. We never know when we might meet God sooner than we planned.

  3. Thanks for posting this, Britt. It made me think about how I act around other people. I usually shut other people out, when Jesus accepted people and loved them. I need to reflect better on Him! :D
