I Miss You {poem}

So I thought for today I would share a poem with you all that I had written.... Now, you may be wondering the meaning behind this poem. I will wait to tell you the meaning until after I write it so you can read it without it taking away from the meaning it might have to you.

I Miss You

I miss you so much it hurts to breathe
I wish that you were here right beside me
I miss all the fun times we've shared
Without you here seems so unfair
Why does it always feel like someone else is taken away
Will anyone ever care enough to stay?
I feel so alone and don't know where to turn
But without you here I feel like a piece of my heart has burned
I can't find the strength to carry on
Without you here I just feel like there is no reason at all to move on
Will the words "I love you" ever really be true?
And how much longer will I have to wait to hear them from you?
I don't want anyone else to take your place
Because nobody else  will ever have your grace.
I hate the feeling when you aren't here
All I wish was to have you near
God, please give me the strength to carry on
And to show love and remind me to keep holding on.
Thank You Jesus for always loving me
And I thank You that You will NEVER leave me.

For those of you who may not know- I lost my dad when I was 6 years old on the night after Thanksgiving. It was a very hard day for me and my family. I was young at the time and didn't really understand all that was going on that day, but I knew that I wouldn't see my dad again here on earth. It was hard taking it all in so suddenly, but I think God helped me understand. I don't remember much about my dad and am always asking my mom what he was like since I didn't have much time growing up with him. Even though I don't remember much about him, that does not remove any of the hurt in my heart at all. So you probably can guess now that I  wrote this poem was written with my dad in mind and reflects just a little bit of how much I miss him. But I also can relate this poem to a few other times in my life where someone has been taken away from me as well.

If you have ever lost a loved one, you probably can relate to the poem and I am so sorry if you lost someone you loved- it is such a trying experience to go through and can really make us question why God took them and why we are left here. But God has a time for us all and we shouldn't question why even though it is hard. I just keep reminding myself that I will see my dad again some day soon in heaven and I will have all eternity to spend with him and get to know him more!! I can't wait for that day to see my earthly dad again and also see my heavenly dad too!!!!!

Hope that you all have a fabulous Tuesday!!!

  6. I know it was hard to lose your dad - I cannot imagine how hard. That is SO great that you were brought closer to God through it though. Isn't God so good to always be there for us in our darkest hour of need?!?

I lost one of my grandfathers when I was 14 & I felt as if it was all one big terrible dream. I wanted to scream (not a great idea when, like, 50 or more people are all together in a rather small funeral place, everyone's being quiet, & someone is speaking at the podium.) I actually had a pretty embarrassing moment that day due to my emotions ;-)
I wanted, prayed for years that he would live to be at my wedding - but, alas, God had other plans.
But, after my "crises of emotions" with my grandfather's death, God gave me His peace! And it was awesome!
I look forward to seeing my grandfather in the Kingdom, though!

    1. Hey Mandie- Thanks for your comment and encouraging words!!! I'm so sorry that you lost your grandfather when you were 14- I'm sure that must have been hard for you :( It's sad when we want things to happen and God has other plans- but in the long run we can rest assured that He knows what is best and what He is doing : ) Yes, that truly is something we can look forward to- seeing those we love again in heaven one day!!!!! : )
