Forgiving the Unforgivable

There have been so many times in my life where others have offended me, hurt my feelings, made me feel inferior, stupid, left out, less important and insignificant. I'm sure all of you have experienced one of these at least once in your life.

These feelings are so very impacting and hurt us so much and influence us more depending on how close we are to the person that hurt us.
When someone hurts our feelings and says something to us or about us we often get upset and think about it over and over again and what they said or did continually runs through our mind and we keep re living the moment.

When someone does something hurtful towards us it is hard to forget their hurtful actions and move on.  It is hard to be kind in return and show love with a caring spirit when you have been hurt and downcast by someone else's actions.

One verse that is really impacting and inspiring is Proverbs 19:11 "A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense."

This verse is so applicable in my life- I know I don't always forgive others for the things they do to me and  I hold a grudge inside my heart and don't move on. This verse reminds me that I should allow love to cover up those wounds of hurt and mean comments from others and forgive them for how they treated me. I also should ask God to forgive me for the way I treated others and go to those I have hurt and ask for forgiveness as well.

I hope that if you are experiencing a hard time and have felt hurt by someone that God can give you the love to forgive them and move on!

Thanks for visiting!!! :)
Enjoy your Sunday!

  1. Wonderful words, Britt! I had something like this happen to me, a long time ago; a girl called me a bad name and it really hurt me. And what she said wasn't even true! But it makes you think "Am I really what she said? Is that true?" and question yourself. But God helped me to forgive her, and I am able to smile at that person instead of turn away. This is such a great and true post!

  2. Thanks so much Hannah for your wonderful comment!! I'm so sorry that someone would say that to you and it hurt your feelings- that is never a good experience! Thank you for sharing!! I am so glad that you realized that you needed to forgive her and move on- I have a hard time with that!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! :) Glad you liked the post!!

  3. Thought provoking post. I definitely need to work on this...my temper can get the best of me at times & it makes it harder to forgive people. Like Hannah said-such a great and true post!:]

  4. Brooke- thanks so much for your comment!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!! :)

  5. Great post, Britt. I definitely have experienced hurtful words. I was in a special class from grade 2 right up to high school and was called very unkind things (stupid, retarded, etc.) It really does hurt. God has given me the strength and love to continue on in spite of the unkind treatment I experienced. Thank you for such an inspiring post. God bless you.

  6. Thanks so much Linda!! You are so kind! I am so very sorry that you have experienced such hurt and damaging words from others. Nobody deserves that- especially a kind lady as you are!! I am so glad that you have continued to love God and seek Him even through all the hurt! Thank you for sharing your heart and leaving a comment!! You are such a kind friend!!
