Leaving Our Worries Behind

Do you hate to worry? Worrying is such an awful feeling to experience. Feeling that knot in the pit of your stomach, rising up into your chest and the rush of fear spreading over your whole body. Our heart starts racing and all we can think of is all our problems. So many things keep rushing through our head and we can't seem to be able to stop the worrying about it. We all have faced worrying one time or another. We worry about what people think, we worry about what to wear, we worry about what to say, we worry about if we will have enough money to get by.....we worry over so many things that seem so important at the time, but really overall, worrying doesn't help accomplish anything.

It is so hard for me to not worry about things when I am afraid of something. It is especially hard for me to leave the things I am worried about in God's hands and not worry about them anymore. But even though our problems seem so big and we feel like worrying may help the matter- really the only thing that can help us, in our problems, is to pray to God and leave our problems to Him and seek Him for help. We should trust that He knows what is best and wait for Him to do His will. Then we will know that whatever happens will be what God wants to happen and we will know it is for a special purpose why we have to go through it.

  3. Worrying was and still is a problem for me. I tend to do it allot. But with God's amazing help I have been catching myself doing it and then giving my worries to him. Letting my worries go has freed me allot. It used to be so bad that I would be kept up late at night because of something going on the next day. God has really been lately transforming that area of my life and I would appreciate it if you would pray that I will continue to cooperate and work with God to break that habit.

  4. Hello Emilie- I definitely have the same feelings of worrying. I too stay up at night and worry so much over what I need to do the next day and I can't seem to leave my problems in His hands. I will definitely keep you in my prayers! I too could use prayer in this area as well! :) Thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts!

  5. I've always been a worrier. My late husband Ben always told me "quit worrying" and now my younger brother tells me the same thing. I have noticed that I don't worry about things quite as much as I did before my husband died because now I know that worrying gets us nowhere. I've also learned from my grief support group that we have no control of anything in our lives, so why worry about anything? I still worry about somethings a little, but I'm getting better.

  6. Kay, thanks for leaving your comment!! It is hard to not worry at all over things we are afraid of. When we trust in God and leave our worries with Him we can forget about worrying and know that He is in control. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Kay!! :)

  9. thank you so much for posting this. Lately, I've been worrying over my big exams that are coming up... worrying over whether I'm ready, whether I will pass, etc, but as you say worrying doesn't help and I need to place my worries in God's hands. Thanks for the reminder ;)

  11. You know, Britt, I have found that when I worry about things, I start to feel a panic attack. Then I pray and trust Jesus to bring me through. I just have to learn to place everything in the hands of God! Great post!
