Peace Amidst the Storm

Do you ever look at your life and say to yourself "I can't take it anymore!" You feel like can't take the worry, stress and constant chaos of trying to live each day? You feel like you are worn and tired. Tired of trying to be the person everyone expects you to be. Trying to be perfect. Trying to meet up to all the expectations everyone has of you. Trying to meet up to all the expectations you have for yourself.

Sometimes we push ourselves too hard and beat ourselves up for things that are out of our control. We worry and stress over things that are not ours only to carry. We try to take all our circumstances and tasks and hoard them all to ourselves. We keep stacking things higher and higher and we wonder when things come falling down why God wasn't there to catch us. Maybe it's because we haven't been going to Him like we should. When things get crazy around us sometimes we forget to go to the One who can help us prioritize.

Often I have a difficult time prioritizing my schedule between work, relationships and God. It's hard to have a balance between them all without ignoring or falling short in any area. Lately with work being busier I've kinda put God on the back-burner since I'm worn out by the time I sit down to spend time with God.

When we are busy with our lives and we're going a million miles an hour it is easy to get caught up in the stress and whirlwind of things that need to get done, but often this is when we need God the most. We need Him to help us take a breather and calm us in the midst of our storms. We need His strength and help to get through. Sadly, we often look to others things to solve our problems: people, technology, Google, our wisdom, etc.

When we give over our circumstances and busy schedules to God we know that we aren't in it alone and God is helping us amidst our storm. It is so reassuring knowing that God has our lives in His hands and we don't have to worry since He's taking care of things and will lead us where we should go when we seek after Him. Right now I have some important decisions to make and knowing I don't have to make the decisions alone helps ease my heart knowing I'm not alone. God is working through my life and He will lead me where He thinks is best if I keep following Him. It may not be what I expected or what I want, but if it is His will I want to obey where He leads me.

If you are struggling right now in your own life and feel stressed and worried, go to God and give it to Him. Ask Him to help you desire Him more and seek Him more throughout your daily circumstances, no matter how small they may be. Let it all out and let Him take control. You don't have to carry it anymore. He is with you and knows what is best for you. Seek after Him and He will guide you when the timing is right.

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  1. Thank you Britt! My WHOLE week was a complete an utter chaotic mess and it was hard to see God in it. So much happened that wasn't planned, wasn't fun, and just didn't follow what I thought should happen.
However, I found that life didn't seem so bleak when I took it to God, when I took the time to cast it all to Him. It was hard but I began to see Him still working.
    Thank you for posting!

    1. Kara, sorry to hear you had a chaotic week! I hope it starts looking up for you! Yeah, things always seem a little better when we can leave them in God's hands and don't have to carry the weight ourselves. Hope things start getting better for you :)
