Driving Your Problems Away

Some days I just want to take a drive and get away from my problems. Sometimes I wish I could drive away and not have to deal with the struggles and issues I face each day and everything would be set right when I arrive back at home. It seems like the older I get the more things change and I wish things were as they were when I was little. I look at myself changing now and I feel like it is bittersweet seeing my life in comparison to who I was when I was younger.

Struggling in certain areas in my life recently have made me long more for the guidance and leadership of my dad. I wish I could hear his voice and direction. I miss him and wish he was here now more than ever. Even though my earthly father is not here on earth, I consider it a blessing because it has allowed me to go to God for guidance more and rely on Him, not only as my heavenly father, but also my earthly father as well.

Have you ever just wanted to forget your problems and get away from the things that keep you up at night? Sometimes we can't seem to get things off our minds and leave them in God's hands. Maybe you feel like things have changed and you miss how things used to be. Somehow things that are good never seem to last long.

I have found it hard to be confident in anything anymore. Just when I seem to have hope for the future it gets darkened in an instant. Just when things seem to be going right, everything changes overnight. One thing I can remain confident is in God. Even when things are changing constantly before my eyes, I know that God will remain the same. His promises never fail. His character will always remain the same. People will change and their view of me will alter, but God will always look at me the same way. He will always love me no matter what. He will always accept me.

The next time you want to drive away from your problems and feel like you can't take the burdens a moment longer, take a moment and just pray. Pray and ask God to take the weight off your shoulders and work in the situation. Give it up to Him. Even though we may take a "drive" and want to get away from our problems, God will be there to lead us safely back home with strength to face the next day. You don't have to carry it on your own anymore. God is there to strengthen you when you can't carry on any further. He will remain steadfast and will be your foundation when things seem like they are crumbling down around you.

Psalms 37:5
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.

Isaiah 54:10
Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

  1. Yes I would love to go back to my childhood days! These are things I've been thinking about a lot recently, so thanks a lot for the encouragement this was!
