What the Future Holds

Sometimes I wonder what my life will look like 5 years from now. Where will I be? What will I be doing? Sometimes I wonder if what I'm doing now will strengthen or weaken who I will be in the future. What am I doing in my current situations to influence my future? Am I making wise decisions or just focusing on temporary pleasures?

It is easy to get carried away and long for things that lie in the future. It's so easy to get caught up in things we want to occur now and in our timing. It's hard remaining patient and relying on God with things that we may not have control over. I have trouble entrusting others with things and dislike unmade plans. Entrusting God with my future is something so difficult since I feel like I lose control and don't know what lies ahead. Even though it is difficult, it really tests my faith and allows my trust in God to strengthen.

Sometimes I feel like I may have the wrong intentions when I'm praying for my future and circumstances. Often I pray for things I'm seeking, but forget to pray for God's will to be done. If I'm praying for things I'm seeking and wishing for, it's based on my perspective and wants. In result, this may not be for my best. When we pray for God's will to be done and seek Him with our future, we know that whatever happens is right and is for the best.

Maybe you are struggling with your future and you don't know what lies ahead. Seek God for guidance and ask for His will to be done. Entrust your circumstances to Him and ask that He will give you the faith so you don't have to worry with your situations anymore. Once they are given to God, He will carry the weight. You don't have to hold onto the pain, worries, and uncertainty anymore- just know whatever your future holds, God is handling it and He will work it out in His perfect timing.

Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Psalm 27:14
Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

  1. Jeremiah 29:11 is always a go to verse for me...it's so encouraging. This is a good post! I'm bad about praying for what I want to happen, rather than praying God's will be done. It's a selfish mistake that I need to learn to control. It is hard to trust that God has our futures planned out, but He does!
