The Pattern of the Stars

I like to look out my window every night before I go to bed and stare at the stars. Looking at them reminds me of star-gazing with my dad when I was little. He was fond of astronomy and such, so looking up into the night reminds me of the times I used to spend with him looking at the planets and stars and helps me feel like he is with me.

Seeing the stars also reminds me of God's plan. Each star has a place, a position and a purpose. The stars show me just how detailed God is with all that He has created. I like to compare our lives to the stars up in the sky, we each have a purpose and a part in God's overall plan. Each of us make up a larger whole and have meaning for our place here in this world. God has each of our lives mapped out and He's got a plan for our futures. Everything has a pattern and purpose.

Sometimes looking up into the sky and seeing just how big it is makes me feel small, but then I like to see how God uses those small "lights" for Him in such a big way. God is using your life, though it may feel small and insignificant, in a great way for His glory. You may feel like the job you have is unimportant or your life has no meaning, but if you are seeking to be used by God, He will use you. You may not see it or notice how much you are influencing others but everything you are doing for Him is worth it. Just as a star may not see how far it's brightness shines, we may not see how much our lives are impacting others.

Go out and let your light shine for God. Use your life to influence and inspire others to grow closer to God and follow after Him. Know that God has got a great plan for your life. He is planning a great way for your life to be used by Him- just keep seeking Him and placing your faith in Him. If He has such a detailed pattern for the stars, He has got an even more incredible plan for your life!

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name.
Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
-Isaiah 40:26
