Feeling Out of Focus

Have you ever wondered if you are doing the right thing with your life? Are you making the right choices? Is the life you are living leaving you feeling uncertain? Sometimes the things of this world catch a hold of me and distract my view of why I am placed where I am and what my purpose is.

My life isn't about all the pleasures I can enjoy or how good I feel, it is about how I can use it to glorify God and uplift others. It's not about being popular or well-known. It's about using what God has given me (big or small) and giving it up to Him. Sometimes I get carried away with my wants and needs and forget to give it up to God. He's the one who gave me my life, I don't want it to be about me- but what He can do through the life I was given.

So many times I forget that the life I'm living right now will one day end and everything I've done on this earth will be presented before God. All the selfish and meaningless material things will fade away; only what was done with pure intentions and for God will withstand. How many times I put God on hold in my life and don't spend enough time with Him each day that I should. How quickly I forget that without Him I wouldn't have anything. Everything that matters most to me wouldn't exist. Without Him nothing would exist. Without Him to go to I wouldn't have anyone to go to with problems I can't handle on my own.

I want more to my life than someone remembering me by my name or job title. I want more to my life than what I own or possess. I want my life to be known by God being shown through my actions, words and characteristics. If anyone could see anything in me, I would like it to be God portrayed through my life.

Sometimes I get focused on what I can get out of my life down here on earth and I lose focus on my purpose. I continually have to remind myself that what I'm doing down here with my life is determining my future in Heaven. Will God be proud of the life I'm living now? Is He pleased with what I'm doing and the choices I'm making? When I reach heaven will I want to go up and hug Him like He's my best friend or will I be ashamed of the life I've lived?

Maybe you've grown far away from God or have lost your focus on the purpose of your life. Maybe the things you've been so consumed with are overtaking your thoughts and you have been losing track of God and your relationship with Him. No matter where you are, it's never too late to reset your mindset on what really matters. Spend some time with God today, read your Bible, take a good look at your life and the direction you are going. Any time with God is never wasted, even when it seems like you have 10 million other things to be doing. God is pleased when you take time with Him out of your busy schedule. Go to Him with your worries and thoughts; ask Him to direct you where He wants your life to go and to give you opportunities to show His love to others. Sometimes it takes a little effort and time with God for you to feel refocused and refreshed.

I Samuel 12:24
But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.

Colossians 3:1-4
Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. When Christ appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

  5. Oh wow, I really needed this today. "meaningless material things will fade away", was the one phrase that stuck with me. I get so sidetracked at school sometimes, forgetting what my purpose for life is. I forget that material things are temporary, and the things of the world can never satisfy the way that a relationship with Jesus Christ can. Thank you so much for posting this <3
Definitely followed because I know that God will encourage me through your blog, and I am beyond grateful for it!
