In The Small Things

In our lives we all have times that we feel like we need God. We feel like there are things out of our control or we can't do them on our own. Sometimes we know we don't have the capabilities or wisdom to do things and we seek Him for His help.

It is during these times that I have given God the most dependance of my life because I didn't know what else to do. I knew I didn't have the answers so I relied on Him. Often I have found myself doing this, but I really should be going to God with such faith and reliance with everything and not just the things I think I "need" help with. I shouldn't only be using God when I need Him.

God understands that we sometimes get caught up in this life and we often rely on our own strength. But I like to think that it is through our own reliance in ourselves that brings us back to Him once again. We can't do it on our own and that is why God is there for us to go to. God wants us to go to Him, even with the small things.

Recently I've been struggling with ideas for projects and knowing what will please the teachers I have and make a good grade. I've been praying for God to help me in the projects I've been doing since some of the projects seem quite daunting and I just can't seem to find what works. The last project I had I prayed for God's guidance and He provided me with the help I needed- seeing this really allowed me to trust God and see Him working more. I know that with the upcoming projects things may get hard, but if I'm seeking God and working my hardest that is the best I can do and I shouldn't expect anything more.

Sometimes relying on our own strength seems the easiest because it feels like we have control, but in reality, relying on ourselves doesn't give us any more control. Going to God with our problems and circumstances may seem like a whim sometimes, but with God all things are possible even when we feel like everything is failing.

Waiting on God and seeking His timing for things is also another difficulty. Trusting others is something I really have trouble with since people let us down all the time. Even though it may seem like God may let us down in His timing and decisions, we know that it's not meant to harm us, but to grow us for good. While people try to hurt us in this life and let us down, God will always be using those things to shape us into His purpose for our lives.

Relying on God with His timing and choices may be hard and seem far-fetched sometimes because we don't know what is going to happen and when, but we know that when we pray and put our hope in God it will never be wasted. God blesses those who hope in Him and rely on Him instead of themselves. Trust God with the things you are facing today. Know that even the darkest situations can be used for good and growth. The most hopeless of situations can be made possible, with God.

Matthew 19:26
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God

  1. You always inspire me, Britt! Last semester I did really bad because I was overconfident and sought no form of assistance but this semester, I prayed not only when faced with a trial but after overcoming it too. Thank you for reminding me to always have faith in God and for giving all your readers a ray of hope in every post. I do hope you do well on your projects, although I'm pretty sure you will. xx
