The Faith to Carry On

Have you ever felt led to do something but you were too afraid? you knew it was the right thing to do, but was scared to step out and do what was right. Coming to college was something that was totally out of my comfort zone. I was scared of what laid ahead. Scared to leave home and not know what to expect. Scared what God would bring my way and what obstacles He would lead me through.

tree trunkWhen I visited the college I'm currently attending I didn't know what to expect in the future, all I knew is that when I left the campus I knew God wanted me here. I knew it was the right thing to do and it was His will that I follow Him. If it was up to me I would have chosen a college closer to home, but I knew God had a plan that was better for my life than what I had in mind. I have to admit, some days are so hard that I just want to give up and say to God "I can't do it anymore. I just want to go home. I want my easier life back again." But each night God seems to strengthen me back up again and allows me to fight through another day once again. Some days I just have to pray and say "God, you brought me here, You are the one who will have to help me through and keep me strong. I can't do this on my own."

Maybe you have had some times in your life right now that you feel like you just can't continue on. Maybe you are just fed up with the struggles and trials you are in and want to take an easier route. Maybe you are so tired of the life you're living and you want more meaning to your life? Whatever you are going through just know that God is helping you grow through your struggles. It is truly how you endure them that will make all the difference. When we turn to God through our hard times instead of away from Him is when we truly learn the meaning of why we go through hard things. When bad things happen it isn't to punish or hurt us, it is to teach us. It is to help us. It is to grow us in our spiritual walk. It is to help us grow closer to God.

Don't lose hope if you are in a dark valley in your life. God will help you through. He will give you strength when all hope seems lost. He will guide you when things are uncertain. We just have to be willing to go to God and ask for guidance, help and strength. Take a look at the struggles in your life and maybe see them from a different perspective today- try to see them from God's perspective, it may ease your heart a little.

John 16:33
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
