God, Show Me a Sign

Have you ever wanted God to show you a sign? Have you just wanted Him to answer your prayer? Sometimes I ask God to show me a sign so I know what to do or what choice to make. And even though sometimes God shows me the sign, I still doubt and ask Him to show me another one to make sure it wasn't just accidental or coincidence- how terrible is that? And sometimes even after I pray for something I still doubt and worry that what I asked for won't be answered the way I want and I will face a whole new fear and anxiety. The worst part of asking God to show me a specific sign or answer to prayer is the waiting part. I hate the waiting time for God to show me what His answer is.

I asked God to show me a sign and answer my prayer according to His will and now I'm waiting. I am constantly worried about if my prayer won't be answered the way I want and what the consequences are if it isn't a direct answer. A song I heard a little while back keeps plaing in the back of my mind and it reassures me to leave things in God's hands once I have prayed. It is called Hands of the Healer by Brandon Heath. I just love the part

"If we’re gonna pray about it
There’s no use in worrying
If we’re gonna worry about it
Why are we praying......Drop in in the mailbox raise the flag and let it go"

Even though I commit my problems to God my worst area is trusting Him and leaving the worries behind. I know that God can do the impossible, so usually I pray for the impossible things to be done so I know what God wants me to do.

So, if y'all could just pray that God will help show me an answer to prayer right now I'd really appreciate it. I feel like I have been through a lot of heartache recently about this one situation and I would appreciate it  SO very much : ) Thanks guys!!!

  2. Britt-I am praying for you whatever it is. It will come out alright, but I will also be praying for you. It is hard trusting God especially when it is a big deal at the time. When you look back on today 20 years from now (if you remember what you were going through) you will probably laugh :) Probably because you will be in a wonderful place and where God wants you and he took you through your situation now so that you can be where you will be in 20 years. Try not to worry too much. You can't do anything else so let God take control and drive you along on this road :) Love you Britt!!

  3. Hi Britt! I have not been on your blog for a long time... I am sorry! Four months ago my Mother died, and truthfully that day rocked my trust... Then somebody reminded me of two special verses in Jeremiah 29:11-12 that keeps pulling me through... "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you." I pray that this encourages you. I know where my Mother is... You have come a long, long way and just know that God is in control! He has a great future with your name written down! God bless you!

  4. Sorry, I removed by last comments because I made some mistakes...but anyway, this is what I want to say.
I know how it is...wanting a sign so bad. And I am the same - asking God to do the impossible, because I know He can. But I don't think it's bad that you ask for another sign. Gideon did, and in the end, he won the battle with such a little amount of men.
Great post, Britt, I'm looking forward to the next!

P.S. I am praying for you. xxx

  7. That's really crazy, because just yesterday I spent a few hours with God. At the beginning I asked him to give me a sign of his love for me, and he gave me a sunset and stars. It was cool and it's a God thing that we both had the same prayer. I hope you get your answer/sign soon.

  9. I just stumbled on your blog after searching for the "asking God for a sign". Obviously, I typed in that search because I have placed a request before God asking Him for a specific sign. Now, I'm also in the waiting stage and I must admit on days like today I just feel so frazzled. You're right, the waiting can be hard at times but I am determined to know what God's will is that I've decided to wait the time-frame to be 100% sure. Praying for you. Please pray for me too. All shall be well in due time.

  11. I am so relieved to read that someone else has gone through what I'm going through right now. To just need one sign from God, someething to cling on to, something that God can use to show me He is on the way with my answer. I know He is, but it is just hard holding on, when holding on is all I've been doing. A few months ago, I asked God to come down from heaven and speak to me...yes, crazy, I know! I am asking for the impossible, but the only reason I am asking is because He specialises with the impossible. He says ask and you shall receive. I cannot wait much longer because I have been enduring, my children too. I do not want to give up but I need just one sign that He hears me and will answer. I don't mind waiting Lord but please give me something to hold on to!

  12. Hand in there!

    Romans 5:3-4 (KJV)

    3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

    Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
