How Trials Change You

The past is something we sometimes want to forget and leave behind us, but then other times it feels good to look back on things that have happened in our life and see what has made us the person we are today. I believe that many circumstances in my life have made me and shaped me into the person I am today. I believe that is probably the same with you as well- things that you have gone through in your life, the way people treated you, words spoken to you or about you, actions done towards you, places you've been, things you have seen......these all can shape us into the people we are today.

We may not notice it at the time, but God is preparing us to be the person He wants us to be by allowing us to go through things and face things- but we may not notice how much we were changed by our circumstances until years later, or maybe only when we reach heaven!

Beautiful Fall ColorsI have seen myself change in my own life through the circumstances I've faced. When my dad passed away it changed me drastically by allowing me to become shy, quiet, reserved and low in my self esteem. I felt very unconfident and I wanted that someone who would protect me and reassure me that everything was going to be okay. I didn't know at the time but I was in lacking that part of my life and I grew up with a hole in my heart with the loss of my dad in my life. I didn't realize until years later that by losing my dad it really changed my personality and changed me from a very talkative kid into a quiet girl who was afraid to talk and afraid of what others thought of her.

Maybe you have had circumstances in your life that have changed you and made you a different person than who you used to be, but also sometimes for the bad (depending on if it is God's will for you to change or your will). Sometimes it is hard for us to accept the changes and realize that God has had a plan the whole way through for us to change and allow us to experience different things through our lives that we wouldn't have faced if we weren't changed by our circumstances or didn't experience the trials we did.

So overall, learn to realize that your past does in fact influence who you are today. See how far God has brought you and know that He will continue to help you through the trials you face and that you are indeed changing every moment that you are growing closer/farther away from Him. Notice the changes in your life and realize just where you might be without them.

Thanks for dropping by! Hope that you all are having a great day!!
