Facts About My Life

Who are you? what is your story? what wounds make up your life?

I'd love to hear just a few statements that make up your life. I always enjoy hearing people's stories and characteristics. So I thought I'd share a few of mine...

People mistake me for being younger than I really am
I lack self confidence and self worth
I lost my dad when I was 6 years old
I have been passionate about graphic design since 11th grade
I have never been on a date or in a relationship
I question my abilities
I like quiet and keep my thoughts to myself normally
I am reserved and don't tell most people how I really feel
My best friends are my family
One way I can truly open up my heart is through writing
I started my blog 2 years ago
The best years of my life were my childhood years
Sometimes I wonder if I will ever feel like I belong
My favorite musical artist is Brandon Heath, I think I have an obsession (at least that's what I'm told...haha)
As each day passes more doubt comes into my heart if I'll ever be married one day
College truly has been one of the most stressful and trying times in my life
My highschool years were truly years that made me doubt myself
Finding friends has always been difficult
I accepted Jesus into my life when I was 7 after my dad died since I wanted to make sure I knew where I was going when I died.
My life has had it's ups and downs but through it all I have seen God work, the biggest thing I have seen God do is provide for my family, looking back (and even now) I wonder how we made it financially and knowing it couldn't have been done without God.

Well, that's a glimpse into my story of my past/present. I'd really like to hear a few facts about yours!

  1. I see myself in a lot of those things! As for myself,
I feel like God is my first love, writing is my second, and food is my third,
I have had trouble finding long-term friends too (it's hard for me to regain trust after people compromise it),
    I hate the term "annoying,"
I have only had one boyfriend (we've been together for two years now),
I can be very shy one minute and very outgoing the next,
I have a car named Sadie,
    I'm left-handed,
and I love me some rock and roll :)
this is all I can think of off the top of my head but there are lots of other things out there, too :P

  2. I have been homeschooled pretty much all my life
I never had a best friend until December, and have always wanted one, but God decided to bring her into my life exactly when I needed it
I never went to my church's youth group until last fall, but I'm so glad that I did
I have played piano for about 10 years and am part of my youth group worship team
I can listen to a song and almost immediately pick it out on the piano
    I love choreographing dances
I write a lot of songs
My birthday was last week :)
I only use the word "hate" in certain circumstances and try to NEVER use it against people
I hate (see there?) any type of swear word, even the ones that aren't really but are variations off of the real words. In my opinion "oh snap" is perfectly acceptable.
I lost my grandmother to a severe stroke, and it will be a year ago next month
I love to listen to worship music
The song "Be Still" by Steffany Frizzell Gretzinger (cool name, right) is a song that means a lot to me
I love people, but am still very much an introvert
I love when people play with my hair
I love when people give me hugs

    1. Hannah, thanks for your comment! :) I think about you often!! So glad that God provided a best friend for you, you are so worthy of a best friend as you've been an awesome one to me! You are so talented musically and God has truly blessed you with song writing as well! Yes! I TOTALLY agree, I hate fill in's for curse words as well, I totally totally agree- thanks for sharing that as I feel very strongly against cursing too. Oh, I'm so sorry about your grandmother, I can relate as my grandmother will probably pass away within the next few days. I'm sure that was hard for you and still is- loss never leaves us, it may get less frequent that we experience the pain, but it never goes away. Yeah, I'm an introvert as well, as you well know..haha. Thanks for sharing Hannah, great facts!!!! Sending a hello and hug to you!

  6. Ciao Britt! Replying to this post a bit later but better late than never, right?

    - I am always mistaken for being younger than I am and it really hurts me when people say so
    - I take things WAY too personally
    - I have an obsession.............. with a boy band, no not One Direction, but Il Volo. You should check them out:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrKfotQ4doc
    - I spend most of my life working and doing school, and preparing for my move to Italy in the future (my great-grandparents came from Italy)
    - I love cannoli and I have the habit of eating piles of them almost every time I go over my Nonna's.. as of late
    - I love music and can't last too long without listening to some, so going to school on Wed. almost kills me cause I can't listen to anything!! UG

Those are just a few facts about me.

When I saw your first thing on your list in the post I immediately felt for you! I understand how it feels to be thought of as younger than you are. Although, I am only 15 (quite a bit younger than you) I can totally relate. It hurts. And even if you correct the person and tell them how old you really are, they apologize or whatever, the wound it still there. And sometimes, they still treat you as if your the age they assumed your were. They treat you younger, even though your not. I hate it. And lately I feel as if people are ripping my heart out over it. As stupid and sensitive as that may sound, I am sick of looking younger, being short, etc. I accept myself. I feel like a look my age, some people think I do look my age as well, but others don't. Whatever. Do they need to see my birth certificate or something! URG! I understand. I feel for ya. I am so sorry this happens to you! :/

Just think.. when we're older we'll look younger.
And who cares what other people think, us younger looking people are better anyway. ;)

    Ciao,
    Natalie__xoxo

p.s. I highly recommend you listen to the link I sent with a song by Il Volo above. *let me know what you think* ;)

    1. Natalie, thanks for your comment and facts about yourself- I enjoyed reading them!! I'll take a listen to the link shortly :) Yeah, sometimes it does get quite annoying when people think you are like 5 years younger than you are- especially guys since most of the ones my age think I'm too young. haha...but like you said it's nice knowing we'll look younger when we get older! :) Thanks for your comment!!

  7. Hey Britt! :)

First of all I wanted to tell you that I'm in love with you blog, like for real! You inspire me, and I can totally relate with what you write :) I also have to tell you that English isn't my native language because I come from Belgium.

    Anyway, let's start, shall we?

*People think I'm 15 while I'm 19. I guess you're not the only one with that issue :p But I don't take it as an insult, but either as a compliment. Sometimes it can be a problem though, when I need to find a summer job or something like that.

*My parents divorced when I was 1, so my dad left when I was baby. He married another woman, and had two other kids. I never really had a good relationship with him, sometimes it makes me sad to not have a proper family situation, but then again I realize I should be happy with what I already have .

*I'm a dental student, so it means I'm stuck in university for the next 6 years. But I'm okay with that, in the end it's all worth it ;p It's been a dream of mine to become a dentist, I won't let it go.

*I fancy the fact of mastering diverse languages. I speak 4 languages; French, Dutch, Arabic and a bit of English. Writing is something I've always liked since I was a kid. By the way, I started a blog last year, wink wink, haha :p But I have the feeling I lack a bit of vocabulary and sometimes inspiration.

*I've struggled for 8 months with a skin disease triggered by stress. It's called psoriasis, I suffered a lot from it, but now it's gone, I feel stronger. And I'm even more blessed now I realized how health is important.

*I'm addicted to social media, pizza, boy bands, the youtube community and science :)
If I could marry anyone's personality (celebrity), it would be with Jennifer Lawrence, she's hilarious.

*I'm a shy person, not confident at all. But I'm on my way... I have a few close friends, but I moved out to another city to study dentistry. It was not always easy, but I made a few new friends.
I have issues with describing my feelings too, I prefer writing them down :)

*In the summer I work with toddlers in a playground , it always makes me happy when they call me ma'am, it's so cute.

*I truly believe in God, I'm actually a muslim, and I totally agree with your statements :)

Have a nice day & greetings from Belgium! :D

I truly can't take the credit, it all belongs to God! Wow, 4 languages, my goodness!!! I'm so sorry to hear about the skin disease, that sounds so terrible! I'm a shy person too! My situation sounds like yours- I am at a university for college and away from home. It truly does make you go out of your comfort zone and test your strengths. Thanks for sharing!!!
