Sometimes waiting is God's way of showing us that we should be putting more faith in Him and it allows God to test our patience. God may not be trying to change our circumstances but He is rather trying to change our hearts. Through waiting, God can help us grow closer to Him and we can see Him work in ways we never thought were possible.
Part of waiting is having faith that God will do what is best and leaving it in His hands after we have done everything we can think of. But sometimes waiting for things to happen surely drives me up a wall because I just can't stand to be patient one minute longer.
I think waiting often makes me feel like I'm less important to someone else. For example, when I am waiting for someone to return a phone call I often feel like I'm less important because they haven't gotten back to me. Sometimes I feel this way with God. I feel like I'm not special when I don't see Him answering my prayers. But deep down inside I know the truth and I know that God has answered my prayer- but the answer may be to wait. Waiting is not a bad thing in God's plan, because He has the perfect timing and if I were to do something without His timing, it probably wouldn't succeed.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer

So, if you are waiting for something- please know that when you feel like you are at the end of your rope with waiting, to go to God and ask His will to be done. God knows what is best in your life and He never puts you last. You are always first on His mind- so don't ever feel like when God tells you to wait, that He is just putting your life on hold, but He is rather protecting you from something. Keep trusting in God because He knows what He is doing and there is a perfect reason for what you are going through!!
Oh, thank you, Britt. . . . And thank you for backing up your posts with Scripture!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, oh and I'm delighted to back up my posts with Scripture : )
DeleteSo true! I also hate waiting and am not a patient person.
ReplyDeleteYeah, me too!! :) Thanks for your comment!!!
DeleteI did enjoy the post. :) Also this is something that I read in my one devotionals that I thought would really encourage you because it encourages me and pretty much everyone I've shared it with. I forget which devotional it's from, but just so you know, it's not mine and I'm not taking credit for it I just think it's extremely encouraging. :) "We look at our imperfections and ask, "How could God possibly love me?" God looks at each of us through eyes of pure love and asks, "How could I not love you? You are mine."
ReplyDeleteThanks Lissie for your encouraging comment! :)It brightened my day!! Thanks for sharing the words from your devotional with me, so inspiring!!! Thanks for your comment!
DeleteI think we must be in similar situations. I know you don't know me, but I read your blog and I've commented a few times now. I totally understand the frustration in waiting. "I think waiting often makes me feel like I'm less important to someone else." This line really stuck out to me. I'm waiting on people quite often it feels and when people don't answer me I feel worth less.
ReplyDeleteThanks for blogging!
Thanks for your comment! : ) I've totally noticed that you've commented before and I truly love when you do!! I'm glad you can understand my thoughts on waiting. Yeah, I agree, I often feel worthless when someone doesn't get back to me or answer me, but then I have to remember that it may not be that way and I may just be over-thinking things too! :)Thanks for your comment and for dropping by!!!
DeleteI'm definitely not patient, although I try! And I ask yet again: where did you take that beautiful picture?
ReplyDeleteyeah, me too! :) to answer your question about the photo-I got it from Pinterest. I get most all of my pictures on my blog from there :) I'm not that great of a photographer...haha
