A Heartfelt Prayer

I was trying to think of what to post for today. Just looking at a blank screen and wondering what God is going to lay on my heart to share with you all. But, God brought something to my mind and it is something I've been feeling the past few days. Prayer. Yeah, we all are probably familiar with the word, but how often do we do it? I have to admit my prayer time is limited by the things I'm doing throughout the day. I say a quick prayer when I need something or to thank God, and I don't have the in-depth prayers too often. And I know I should do it more often. Sometimes when I have major situations I constantly think about what may be the right choice, but I forget to go to God and pray about it.

Our prayer time with God doesn't always have to be in-depth and super long-we can go to Him with the same heartfelt words just by asking for His guidance even in just a few minutes. But I truly think that prayer is more than just a quick prayer here and there and only spending time with Him for a few minutes.
If we really care about something we don't just want to spend a few minutes doing it, but we want to really spend a lot of time doing it. With prayer, it is fine to have quick heartfelt prayers when we need Him throughout the day, but we also should spend time with Him and remind Him that He still is an important aspect of our lives by giving Him some of our time.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:19
You may pray for an hour and still not pray.
You may meet God for a moment and then
be in touch with Him all day.
--Fredrik Wisloff
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Matthew 7:7-11
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So the next time you have something on your heart, you have a choice to make, need help with something, need prayer about a situation- don't worry about it any more, just go to God and He will do what is best once we ask for His guidance. I just wanted to post this reminder for you all since I know there have been situations in my life recently where I should have went to God and prayed about certain situations and it completely slipped my mind. And when I go to God and ask for His help, I am confident that whatever may happen was truly what He wanted (even though things are truly hard when they don't go my way).

But I just wanted to remind you all to spend a few extra minutes praying with God this week and go to Him when you need guidance or help with aspects that arise in your life.

Hope you all have a great day!

  2. Britt, this post was great! Thank you for taking the time to post it. I have really been having a difficult time with prayer lately. I just never seem to want to pray because I am so lazy about confessing my sins, let me just admit this real quick: I hate confessing sins because it is boring and takes up so much time.
    What happens is it then becomes a block and I don't talk to God at all through my day because I just won't confess. But, instead of building them all up, I need to remember to confess more often so it doesn't take so long. Thank you so much for posting this, anything having to do with prayer helps a little bit. Thanks again, and may God bless you!
