My Testimony/ Life Story

Recently I got a request for me to share my testimony with you all. So, I am going to share a little glimpse into my past with you all.....

A little bit about my life is I am a younger sister and have one older sister who is 2 years older than me. I grew up in a loving Christian home and my parents were strong Christians and really brought us up in a christian home which I am so glad of. My dad was one of the deacons at my church where we were attending and my mom helped out teaching children's Sunday school classes.

But, on one early morning after Thanksgiving, my dad passed away, I was six at the time and my sister was 8. He was having a lot of health problems (constantly passing kidney stones) many years prior to his death and he was in kindergarten when he had his first kidney stone. He was a really godly man and such a great example. I never really got to know my dad very well since I was young when he died. I don’t remember much about him and I miss him more everyday. We had a lot of financial struggles with paying off all the bills and his hospital bills as well, but God always provided. Some days it felt like we wouldn’t have enough money to survive, but God helped us through and provided just enough money to get through. A few months after my dad's death I decided in my mom's room during family devotions that I wanted to become saved and accept Jesus as my Savior. So I asked Jesus into my heart, asked for forgiveness for my sins, thanked Him for dying on the cross and asked for salvation. Ever-since then I have been growing in my relationship with Him and learning more about Him.

A few years after that my Mom had surgery in her sinus area in her face because she was having trouble and excruciating pain with her trigeminal nerve (a nerve in her cheek). A couple years after that my sister had major back surgery (a rare case of her spine almost falling off her tailbone) when she was 15 and she was paralyzed from her waist down after the surgery. For months my mom and sister were at the hospital a couple hours away from home and I had to stay with my grandmother during that time. I had such a hard time staying at home and being away from my mom and sister. The doctors said that she could be paralyzed after the surgery, but my sister was strong through it and it took her many months to recover with trying to learn how to walk again and move her legs on her own, but she was able to walk again and run. Now you can't even tell she had any surgery or problems with her back or problems walking. God really helped heal her! She was in a lot of pain and had months of sleepless nights that my Mom and sister stayed up, but God got us through!!
A year or two after that we had to put my dog Taffy asleep because she had cancer. She was a golden retriever; we had her since the year before my dad passed away. It was so hard going to the vet knowing that she wouldn’t ever come back home wagging her tail and just being able to listen to how my day went. She was my best friend and always listened to how I felt. We had so many memories with her and she always was such a great dog and comforted us in our hardest times. She was a gift from God! Even though it was so hard letting her go, I knew that we had to let her go sometime and God was taking better care than I ever could.

As I grew up with all the situations it was hard fitting in with my own age group. I felt like I never had a friend who cared for me and wanted to be my friend. Most of the friends I grew up with never listened to how I felt and always criticized me or made fun of me. Before my dad passed away I was  very social, but I think after the death of my dad I became less social. I lost my confidence, felt unprotected and afraid. But I truly do believe that through all the circumstances, friendships, hardships and good times God has made me who I am today and I'm glad that He brought those people and circumstances into my life to make me who I am.

Well, I hope I didn't overwhelm you with all that.  : ) I hope that you all have a fantastic day!!!!

  1. Wow, you have seen so many difficulties through your life, and I am sorry for that. But with any struggle it can either make or break us. It can tear us apart and so we are our worst...or it can build and grow us up so that we are strengthened! I see it has done the latter for you. You sound like a truly strong believer...standing firm with Christ and trusting Him with your future! May God bless you as you continue down that path :)
