Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Have you ever felt like circumstances in your life led to a dead end? Like you didn't know which way to go or where to turn? Sometimes life can seem like a roller coaster, full of ups and downs that never seems to be secure or steady.

It's hard to have hope when things seem so uncertain and change so often. Maybe right now in your life you feel like God has put you in a position that you don't know how to handle. You don't know what God is calling you to do and you don't know which way is the right way to turn. You feel like you are between a rock and a hard place and there's no way out.

Life throws some pretty hard things on us and it's difficult to overcome all that we face each and every day. What people think, say and how they treat us effects our outlook and also our attitude. Sometimes it feels like what God has called us to do is too overbearing for us to handle. Sometimes it feels like God has called us to be something we're not and it is hard to do what is right. It is hard to know what to do and to trust God's timing.

Right now in my own life I want to do what God has called me to do, but I feel like I'm not sure of God's direction. I don't know what God wants from me and I want to make sure I'm doing all I am supposed to to fulfill God's will for my life. I want to do the right thing and not just something out of my own desire. I don't want to shut a door where God wants me to walk through it, but I don't want to open a door when God is telling me it's time to close it.

It is in these times that we have to take a step back and let go. Give it over to God and seek Him. Ask Him to show you the way. Ask Him to direct you on the path He wants for you. If you are seeking God and there is a path you should go on, He will lead you, and if you are not meant to go on a certain path He will close the door. It may not be an immediate answer, but if we are seeking Him, He will do it in His timing- it may just require some patience and time.

It is hard entrusting God with something we may want and desire, but if it's God's will for our life, we know it is for our best. It is meant to protect us and keep us from harm, although sometimes it feels like God is breaking your heart. It may be hard, painful and hurt, but if you are in God's will you know it is teaching you something valuable and molding you into who God has called you to be. Never doubt God's plan, it is greater than ours and He will provide just what you need.

Maybe you desire to have things in your life and want what others have; God may not always provide all that you want, but He will always provide what you need to get you through. He is our provider and knows exactly who, what, and when we need it. He sees your heart, pain and the struggles you are facing and He knows how to meet each of your needs. There may be things you think you need, but God is not providing them to you because He wants you to seek after Him and draw closer to Him than you ever could if you had those possessions or relationships. Sometimes by not having our wants met, God is providing for us in greater ways than we ever thought. He is providing us with an opportunity to draw closer to Him and find an unchanging love that this world could never offer us. Maybe since a door closed, God is opening up a new one with a better opportunity for you. You never know what God has planned, but whatever it is, it will be worth it.

So if you are feeling like you are in a tough place right now and you don't know which way to go, seek God. Ask Him to direct you. Ask Him to guide you on His path and not the one you desire. If you are uncertain of the right path, seek Him and give Him control. Let Him take the wheel and lead you on the right path. Ask Him to close doors that are hindering your relationship with Him and to open doors that are in His perfect plan. You may not find direction right away, but keep seeking His guidance until He leads you. He will provide for you and give you everything you need. It may not be all you think you need, but it will be enough. God always makes a way and provides us with just what we need. God blesses those who don't have much, but still use the small things they have to serve and glorify God. Rest assured that God is right beside you and is providing for you in ways you could never imagine, and He's always been there providing for your needs since your life began.

Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end, because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you!
-Isaiah 43:1-4
